Kale Sautéed with StrawberriesI purchased some lacinato kale the other day.  I know.  I know.  I’ve ranted about how tired I am of kale in everything, but chocolate pudding.  And I am tired of it, but I’m a puzzle.  Okay?  I do enjoy sautéed greens every now and then.  Continue reading →

Dry Rubbed, Slow-Roasted Not-Adam's-RibsIt’s time to fess up.  I do love ribs.  The Goddess likes to gnaw on bones…it’s a thing.  And she prefers her ribs to be slow-roasted in the oven, not on the grill.  You knew she was unorthodox, but the ribs don’t dry out in the oven.  You can control the moisture and well, they’re just better.  And dry rub is the secret to great ribs. Hot Pepper Jelly (with a Tropical Twist)I always like to have a few jars of Hot Pepper Jelly on hand, particularly during the holiday season.  Hot Pepper Jelly is always an appreciated hostess gift.  It’s so versatile.  I love to have a bit on a cheese tray, perfect with a leg of lamb, or on a grilled cheese sandwich.  It’s a really nice glaze for chicken or pork, too.  Are you getting the impression this is a versatile sauce to have in your pantry?  You would be right…. Spiced Plum RelishThe Goddess absolutely adores condiments.  At any given time, her fridge is bursting at the seams with such wonders.  Relishes, chutneys, preserves, and pickles add something truly wonderful to sandwiches, a charcuterie platter, toast, meats or simply eat it with a spoon.  Continue reading →

Pickled Bing CherriesThe summer always brings out my “canning and preserving” gene.  I got this gene from both sides of my family and I’m so glad I did.  The summer bounty offers up countless pickling opportunities.  Pickled Bing Cherries are one of the best.  Continue reading →
