Stone Fruit Pie with Streusel Topping It’s stone fruit season…you know the fruits that have a single pit (seed) in the center of the fruit?  All the various, and there are quite a number, of varieties of apricots, peaches, plums, and nectarines, are stone fruits.  And this time of year, there’s nothing better than biting into a perfectly ripe peach or nectarine, except maybe biting into a nice piece of pie!   Continue reading →

Rumtopf in the MakingRum Pot is such a nice gift to give yourself for Christmas.  It’s an even better gift to give to your holiday guests.  The fruit is wonderful served with ice cream, over pound cake or bread pudding or in a bowl with a spoon…just as long as you’re not driving!  Then there’s the liqueur.  But, you need to start a Rum Pot in the summer.  Continue reading →

Spiced Persian Chicken with Citrus & PlumsThis is true fusions cooking.  Seriously.  Citrus and plums?  From Persia you have cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin and oranges…and then there are those plums.  Oh wait…that’s also Indian, isn’t it?  Hmmm…but just to confuse things further, there’s some Sichuan pepper, allspice and hot chilies in the mix, too.  Continue reading →
