This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_6784-e1617219729973.jpgThe folks over at Leite’s Culinaria posted this terrific sounding Banana Bread with Nutella.  Yes.  Nutella.  And I had a jar of Nutella in the cupboard, and several very ripe bananas just waiting for such a recipe.  But…and you knew there would be a “but”, didn’t you?  Because The Goddess can never, ever just leave a recipe alone.  This time, I think you’ll be very happy that she didn’t! I have an Instant Pot.  I love it.  I have a slow-cooker.  And I love that, too.  And either is a great way to make fruit butter…but, today, we’re making Apple-Pear Butter…mmm…autumn in a jar!  Continue reading →

I was flying around the InterWebs and ran across a reference to Apple Fritter Bread, and I thought it sounded wonderful…but that one was a quick bread.  I wanted a yeast bread and then I found one.  So I took to my handy-dandy roll recipe and made a change here and there, so here we are!  This dough is pillowy soft and somewhat sticky, but a dream to work with.  I takes a bit longer for it to raise, because it’s both rich and sweet.  You know, good things!

Everyday Cinnamon Rolls

all-purpose flour, brown sugar, butter, dry powdered milk, eggs, instant yeast, kosher salt, Spices, sugar, water

This is more or less the Everyday Bread recipe, but with additional butter, egg and sugar and using all-purpose flour.  I decided to give you an actual recipe, rather than try to alter it…I did that, but even I found it confusing.  Confusing is bad.  Understanding is good…and it leads to much better results! This is a sweet little rub…well not really sweet at all.  But, rather on the savory side…and delicious.  It’s very flexible, too.  Excellent on pork and beef, but equally delicious on salmon or chicken, as well as sweet potatoes.  You’re hungry now, aren’t you?  Continue reading →

I’ve had Banh Mi on my mind recently.  At this point, venturing out for a Banh Mi, is foolishly indulgent, no matter how good it is.  And these are good!  Solution?  Make some for the The Latin Lover and me.  To that end, a meatloaf seemed like the place to start.  This is that meatloaf.  Continue reading →

This little gem of a cake is perfect for breakfast or an afternoon tea (or coffee).  It’s moist, actually gets better as it sits, (though it is damn fine the first day, too!), isn’t too sweet, keeps well and is more or less, a one-bowl cake.  It is just plain lovely!  Continue reading →

Sloppy Joe’s are one of those wonderful memories we have from childhood.  I love them.  I still do.  I like mine on potato rolls, with slices of raw onion, dill pickle slices  and potato chips on the side.  MMM…what a wonderful memory!  Continue reading →

baking powder, brown sugar, cornstarch, extra-large eggs, flour, orange juice, orange zest, rhubarb, sour cream, strawberry-flavored gelatin, white sugar

The Goddess loves rhubarb.  It’s tart, yet sweet.  It’s a vegetable, but we treat it more like a fruit.  It’s old-fashioned and delicious.  And it makes a fabulous pie, crisp or this lovely little concoction. Continue reading →
