We’ve done Eggplant Parmesan Soup, lo those many years ago, when we began this little adventure.  I loved that version, but as you must be sick to death of hearing, The Goddess is a Being who enjoys change…and it just so happens she had some really nice fennel, ergo this version was born! I was flying around the InterWebs and ran across a reference to Apple Fritter Bread, and I thought it sounded wonderful…but that one was a quick bread.  I wanted a yeast bread and then I found one.  So I took to my handy-dandy roll recipe and made a change here and there, so here we are!  This dough is pillowy soft and somewhat sticky, but a dream to work with.  I takes a bit longer for it to raise, because it’s both rich and sweet.  You know, good things!

all-purpose flour, brown sugar, butter, dry powdered milk, eggs, instant yeast, kosher salt, Spices, sugar, water

This is more or less the Everyday Bread recipe, but with additional butter, egg and sugar and using all-purpose flour.  I decided to give you an actual recipe, rather than try to alter it…I did that, but even I found it confusing.  Confusing is bad.  Understanding is good…and it leads to much better results! It seems that everyone is baking bread these pandemic days.  Particularly sour dough, which The Goddess wandered into, when yeast was not so readily available.  But, she’s returned to her roots…the bread you eat everyday!  A good, basic loaf…. Continue reading →

caramel sauce, Challah, chocolate chips, cream, eggs, salt, sugar, vanilla extract, whole milk

This is different from the bread pudding I usually make.  It’s less dense and while it’s custardy, it isn’t overly custardy.  Does that make any sense at all?  Quite awhile back, when we could still dine out, The Goddess brunched at Rouge, in Philadelphia.  This is her version of their fantastic bread pudding.  Continue reading →

Fresh peach pie tends to disappoint me.  It never seems to do justice to the flavor of a fresh, fabulous peach.  It’s a bias I have, but I’m working on it.  And that’s when I decided that maybe if I used part nectarines, I might be happier with the end result.  Yes! Continue reading →

Our young and charming friend, Lauryn, likes to cook.  And she’s good at it.  She texted me a picture of an orb of bread she made.  It looked fabulous, so naturally I asked for the recipe.  Bless her heart for sharing it with me!  Continue reading →

Remember back when I posted Strawberry-Lemon Blondie Bars, I mentioned that I thought instead of strawberries, I wanted to use nectarines and blueberries.  It was a good thought and it’s a wonderful combination.  Continue reading →

This is truly an old-fashioned dessert.  It’s homey and comforting.  It’s also delicious.  It’s a basic recipe, you’ll be able to find elsewhere.  This is from my mother’s recipe file, though delicious, I couldn’t resist updating it…just a bit.  Continue reading →
