We’ve talked about bread pudding and I’ve given you a Banana-Bourbon Bread Pudding recipe. This recipe is a perfect example of creating something wonderful out of need, using what you have on hand and thus, creating something divine. Continue reading
Moqueca is the perfect buffet dish, it’s loaded with flavor, is best made ahead and did I mention, it’s spectacularly delicious…it’s that delicious part you need to focus on. This is a great dish to ring in the new year…Happy New Year, one and all!
Though The Goddess tends toward being heavy-handed with garnishes on curry, this chicken curry has a very subtle curry flavor. The flavors intermingle and literally “bounce” around your palate, but the “curry flavor” is a back flavor. And, this curry is fast enough for a mid-week family meal and tasty enough for company. Either way, it’s delicious.
I’ve been thinking about Indian food recently. Obsessing really. This is what usually sends me off on a recipe search. Picture The Goddess, crawling in camo through her jungle of cookbooks and the Inter”Webs”, in search of ideas. That’s an image, isn’t it? In this case, there wasn’t really a search. It just sort of came together, and I had leftover shrimp and lobster…see how that works?
The Spicy Honey has an office BBQ and thought it would be a good idea for The Goddess to “whip up” dessert. He’s thoughtful that way. But, The Goddess doesn’t mind, because dessert is good, and this is particularly good. It’s rich, creamy and just delicious, so isn’t that just the perfect thing to have at a BBQ?
This is a wonderfully flavored rice, with the beans cooked with the rice. It’s pretty AND it’s delicious…win-win! If you’re vegetarian, this can be a main course, but I like to serve it with Jerked Chicken.
Have you tried plantain chips? They’re readily available here in South Florida, but I’ve gotten them in the Northeast, too. Anyway, you need to get yourself a bag, because they make a great “crumb” coating…really. Crush them up and add use them to coat chicken breasts, or as in this case, fish fillets. Oh yeah, they’re a great alternative to potato chips, too (and they are gluten free, as well!).
This is, at its heart, the shrimp bisque you’re familiar with. But I was feeling the Carnaval vibe, given the time of year, and the shrimp looked so tasty, so I decided to jazz up the regular old bisque with some Brazilian flavors. It worked. And The Spicy Honey loved it. Lent won’t be all about sacrifice, after all!
