I love salad dressing…period.  It doesn’t matter if it’s creamy or a vinaigrette.  I just love it.  And I like to have a little salad with my dressing.  Or to put it another way, I like to have a bowl of really delicious calories!  Now, having said that, this is worth every…single…calorie! I’ve been culling.  I get too many magazines, though I’ve cut back hugely, but now and again, a person has to cull.  So I was reading back issues of Fine Cooking, which I must say is the one magazine I find really difficulty to part with.  So, so many delicious recipes, not mention good, solid cooking information.  And lo and behold, I ran across Turkish Tarator Sauce.  Continue reading →

buttermilk, cilantro, fresh herbs, Lemon, Lime, mayonnaise, olive oil, salsa verde, sour cream

Mojo Verde (Green Sauce)This is similar to The Goddess’s Green Goddess, in that it’s creamy and green!  The herbs are entirely different, so the flavor is different.  But, delicious?  Oh, yeah.  This is terrific to dress a potato or pasta salad, smear on a chicken sandwich and it is wonderful on a nice green salad with bacon bits.  But, The Goddess loves, loves, loves to dip roasted baby potatoes into this fine elixir…heaven!  Pure heaven! The Goddess's Dilly Ranch Salad Dressing and DipAre we tired of Ranch Dressing yet?  Come on…you know we all love it.  Don’t we?  I’ve made Ranch for years, many times using the dry packet and embellishing it with more dill.  The Goddess loves her dill.  So why not make it from scratch?  This is where we’ve ended up…for the moment, anyway.  It’s terrific drizzled over a nice piece of salmon, on a baked potato, a shingle or on slices of garden tomatoes.  Continue reading →

Burger with Dill Pickle SchmearI’m calling this a schmear.  But, you can call it whatever your little heart desires…a dip, a spread, a condiment…you get the picture.  If you enjoy dill pickles, you’re going to love this.  It is THE perfect “special sauce” to schmear on a burger!  Think about it…. Creamy Herb, Garlic and Lemon SpreadI love Boursin™ cheese, and I make a pretty decent facsimile, Almost Boursin Cheese Spread (Almost!) in a previous post.  So anyway, I was sitting, sipping and musing.  Goddesses do that sometimes.  You should try it.  The things one thinks up…and this was one of those things.  Continue reading →

Paprika-Caraway Cheese SpreadI won’t even pretend this is a Liptauer-like cheese spread.  Because, it isn’t that.  I think we can assume its roots live there, but it matters not.  It’s truly delightful schmeared on a bagel.  Continue reading →

The Goddess's Green GoddessGreen Goddess dressing isn’t something you see too often anymore and that’s a shame.  Its beautiful green color adds freshness to any table or dish.  It’s versatile; it’s a great spread for sandwiches and canapés, swirled into soup and is terrific with chicken and steak.  It also happens to be a great salad dressing.  Continue reading →
