This is a summer salad if there ever was one. It’s perfect when the temperature soars, as it’s been doing here in the Carolinas, so this seems like the perfect dinner, giving me a delicious, quick, cold meal loaded with flavor, giving me just that little extra time I need to unpack more boxes…Yippee!!! You know, The Goddess has mentioned now and then how much she enjoys condiments…Okay, she tends to go on bit about them. And with good reason. Compound or flavored butters are condiments, too. And this is one of the best.
I really do so enjoy imitation crab meat. I know it’s not crab meat. I just like it. It’s never fishy when it’s heated. It has a nice consistency, it’s easy to work with and it just tastes so good. And it was really good in these patties.
This is a nice, fruity and lighter version of cole slaw. In summer, I like to add mango, pineapple, peaches, or nectarines to cole slaw. I dress this version with a sweet chile vinaigrette, which compliments the fruit just ever-so nicely. It’s summery.
It’s time to fess up. I do love ribs. The Goddess likes to gnaw on bones…it’s a thing. And she prefers her ribs to be slow-roasted in the oven, not on the grill. You knew she was unorthodox, but the ribs don’t dry out in the oven. You can control the moisture and well, they’re just better. And dry rub is the secret to great ribs.
This is particularly delicious with fish, seafood or pork. The thing I like about this, is that even though it’s nice Thanksgiving side dish, it’s wonderful when fresh apricots are in season. It’s quick, easy and totally delicious.
This is a wonderful dish. The onions are just slightly charred, a tad burned, if you will. Turbot is a wonderful fish. It’s just slightly meaty and a bit on the sweet side. It lends itself well to sauces, and this lemongrass-laced sauce is perfect with it.
Since so many of us grill more over the summer, I thought I would just pass this “custom” BBQ sauce along to you. This is one of those recipes that is ever-changing. It is intended to be personalized to your flavor preferences, but no matter what, it’s just a great sauce to make ahead or at a moments notice.
We just finished exploring the Art Fair in Boca Raton, and we were hungry. So we checked out “BBQ near me”—isn’t technology great? Anyway, less than a mile away was “Mississippi Sweets BBQ Co”. Thanks, Siri…what a find.
