This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_4242.jpgMy mother used to make this soup.  I have vivid memories of coming home from school, walking into the kitchen and the heavenly scent of this soup, wafting through the room…really, through the whole house!  It’s such an autumn or winter soup.  It just tastes nourishing.  Continue reading →

This is a perfect dish for a crowd, or a busy week.  You can make it on the weekend and just reheat it all…week…long!  It gets better each time you reheat it.  I swear it does.  This is peasant food at its very best…layers of cabbage, sauerkraut, onions, rice, and pork, slow cooked for hours…oh, yum!  Continue reading →

Vegetable Soup with Italian FlavorsWith flu season upon us with a vengeance, I thought this was a good time of year to make a brothy, vegetable soup.  There are a few beans tossed in, but they were more of an afterthought.  This soup is all about vegetables, is slightly salty and will warm you to your bones.  Continue reading →

Slaw with Mandarin Orange and JicamaSlaws are underrated, in The Goddess’s ever so humble opinion.  I think perhaps we think they are too ordinary, which is too bad.  They don’t have to be.  Explore your inner, creative side and slaw away!   Continue reading →

Egg Roll SoupI was thinking of Chinese food.  Truth be told, I’m usually thinking about food, and many times it leans Chinese.  I love egg rolls or spring rolls.  I was thinking about egg rolls.  Dreaming, really.  So with the winter chill, I was thinking about tossing together a soup of some sort.  And with the Asian New Year around the corner, light bulb moment!!!  Why not combine the two?  Continue reading →

Mango-Cabbage Slaw with Sweet Chile VinaigretteThis is a nice, fruity and lighter version of cole slaw.  In summer, I like to add mango, pineapple, peaches, or nectarines to cole slaw.  I dress this version with a sweet chile vinaigrette, which compliments the fruit just ever-so nicely.  It’s summery.  Continue reading →

Tropical SlawThink of this cole slaw as a “monsoon” of tropical flavors…pineapple, mango, orange…need I say more?  Okay, maybe I do, but you’re going to want to slap this on some fish tacos or anything seafood-y.  Or just have it for breakfast.  Continue reading →
