This is a sauce for steak.  It’s particularly delicious with bleu cheese.  It’s a gorgeous.  Its rich, almost creamy mouth-feel, makes for a complex flavor.  But, it isn’t complicated to make.  And it’s best when made ahead and it reheats very well.  Perfect for entertaining.  Your guests will feel pampered. Brussels Sprout, Fennel and Leek Soup

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is img_0474.jpgBrussels Sprout and Fennel Chowder.  Hmmmm.  Intriguing, no?  There’s cabbage soup, so why not Brussels sprouts, in liquid form.  Well, folks, it works and it works well.  This soup is vegetarian, even vegan, if you omit the cheese (but why would you?).  It’s filling, without being heavy. The Dynamite Doula, a young woman who is near-and-dear to us, invited us over for lunch.  She has a new “InstaPot”, the pressure cooker-sauté pan-slow cooker pot and a whole lot more.  It turns out we have the same one, kindred spirits that we are!  Anyway, she, and her Dear One, served us a version of this wonderful, rib-sticking, winter-chasing bean soup.  It was supremely delicious, The Spicy Honey loved it and so I decided to see if I can come close to repeating her soup.  Continue reading →
