Are we tired of Ranch Dressing yet? Come on…you know we all love it. Don’t we? I’ve made Ranch for years, many times using the dry packet and embellishing it with more dill. The Goddess loves her dill. So why not make it from scratch? This is where we’ve ended up…for the moment, anyway. It’s terrific drizzled over a nice piece of salmon, on a baked potato, a shingle or on slices of garden tomatoes.
Slaws are underrated, in The Goddess’s ever so humble opinion. I think perhaps we think they are too ordinary, which is too bad. They don’t have to be. Explore your inner, creative side and slaw away!
The Goddess loves this time of year, when the frost is on the pumpkin, the leaves are a riot of color and there’s just a slight chill in the air. It’s soup weather. It’s stew and chili weather. And it’s time to make pumpkin bread!
Eggs, garden tomatoes, arugula and cloaked in a light mayonnaise sauce…what could be better to start off a meal? Or for lunch, with good bread? I was reminded of this bistro favorite, in an article in The New Yorker, and I’m so very glad it nudged my memory. This is a delicious way to kick off a summer meal, when the tomatoes are prime and the temperature peaks.
Hurray! It’s soft-shelled crab time! They are back in season. Soft-shells are only around for a couple of weeks, so get some and enjoy them now. Keep it simple, with a light breading and a nice big drizzle of great Meyer Lemon-Brown Butter Sauce….mmmmmmmm…life is great!
