cabbage, cilantro, cucumber, frozen orange juice concentrate, lime juice, lime zest, Mango, mayonnaise, pineapple, red onion, Scallions, vinegar

Tropical SlawThink of this cole slaw as a “monsoon” of tropical flavors…pineapple, mango, orange…need I say more?  Okay, maybe I do, but you’re going to want to slap this on some fish tacos or anything seafood-y.  Or just have it for breakfast.  Continue reading →

Grilled Butternut Squash & Pear Grilled Cheese SandwichSince The Goddess knows she can’t get anything by you, she’s not even going to try.  You’re thinking, didn’t The Goddess post a loaf?  Well, yes she did…The Roasted Butternut, Brie and Caramelized Onions en Croute.  Okay, so she screwed up and reversed the order of the posts, but she not going to trash this, because it really is a delicious option.  And the cooler weather seems like the perfect time for this oozy, delicious grilled cheese.  Continue reading →

Terrific Tartar SauceThe Goddess loves mayonnaise and tartar sauce is just so good.  If she didn’t like fish as much as she does, tartar sauce alone would be reason enough to eat fish!  Continue reading →

Hot Potato Salad with Bacon, Cheese and Sun-Dried TomatoesYou know how The Goddess loves potato salads of all kinds.  She’s given you Classically Good Potato Salad, French-Style Potato Salad and Grilled Potato Salad.  This one is pretty much a basic potato salad, but she riffed on the dressing used for German potato salad and then threw in a few things she thought would be tasty.  Continue reading →

Not-Quite-Classic Creamy Coleslaw

broccoli slaw, carrot, celery seed, cider vinegar, lemon juice, mayonnaise, mustard, onion, seasoning, sour cream, white sugar, whole milk

Not-Quite-Classic Creamy ColeslawAs I mentioned in the post for the Broccoli-Apple Slaw with Cranberries, I’ve discovered broccoli slaw, that mixture of shredded broccoli that lives in the produce department of your supermarket.  We really liked that slaw, but it’s not exactly a “classic” slaw.  So why not make a more classic version of coleslaw, but using the broccoli instead?  Seriously.  Why not?  We’re flexible, aren’t we and this is just as delicious.  Maybe even better.  Continue reading →

Broccoli-Apple Slaw with Cranberries and a Creamy Citrus DressingI picked up a bag of broccoli slaw, when the store was out of regular slaw.  I’m so glad I did.  I love the stuff, but The Goddess has never met a piece of broccoli she didn’t love.  There must be a little Italian blood in her veins, rather than the rumored ice water.  Continue reading →

Roll-Your-Own Sole Filled with Spinach Drizzled with Brown ButterThe Goddess does so love creamed spinach…maybe it’s that “Green Goddess” thing.  Who knows, but love it, she does (that sounded eerily like Yoda…hmmm).  Brown butter is lovely with fish.  It’s rich and nutty and just plain wonderful.  So this fish encompasses many favorites, it doesn’t take long to prepare and bake, either.  And it looks mahhhvelous!  Continue reading →

Creamy Horseradish, Roasted Garlic and Honey SauceIt’s all about the sauce.  It really is.  But, you already know this.  A sauce can make the ordinary, a truly extraordinary culinary experience.  So, we’re going to talk about sauces over the next little while.  Let’s go…. Continue reading →

Salad with Hail, Caesar! Salad DressingCaesar salad is such a classic, that it is very difficult to improve on that classic.  And you absolutely can, and should make the dressing from scratch in the classic mayonnaise style.  But, every now and then, it’s good to have this little recipe in your apron pocket.  Continue reading →

Teriyaki Burger SauceBurgers….MMMMM!  The Goddess loves her burgers.  You can keep filet mignon (except for the Bordelaise sauce) or NY strip (except for the béarnaise sauce—I’m seeing a theme here!), but don’t take away her burgers.  She bites the hand that does that.  But, this is about the sauce.  Just as it should be.
