This is one of those lovely concoctions that’s so refreshing you want to eat the whole bowl yourself (don’t think I haven’t done that once or twice!). It is as beautiful as it is delicious, and nutritious, too. What’s not to love?
Sangria is a great summer drink. For some reason, women seem to enjoy it more than men. The Latin Lover isn’t a fan. The Goddess is. This is a fruity, not-too-sweet, white wine version. It is the perfect summer drink. It’s time to bring out the pitcher and the glasses.
This is true fusions cooking. Seriously. Citrus and plums? From Persia you have cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin and oranges…and then there are those plums. Oh wait…that’s also Indian, isn’t it? Hmmm…but just to confuse things further, there’s some Sichuan pepper, allspice and hot chilies in the mix, too.
Is this really Sicilian? Perhaps, if The Goddess lived in a Sicilian village she would be making this dish, with many of the flavors—tomato, capers, olives, garlic, orange (there it is again!) and some fennel—that are so prevalent in Sicilian cooking. This turned out to be delicious, so she will be making this frequently.
