all-purpose flour, cheese filling, egg, Greek-style yogurt, honey, instant yeast, meat filling, olive oil

I’ve been meaning to make pide (in case you’re wondering, it’s pronounced “PEE-day”) for quite some time.  This is street food, at its very best.  And this dough?  It is positively fabulous and wonderful to work with.  I’ve given you a couple of filling options, and then some!  Continue reading →

all-purpose flour, black olives, black pepper, bread flour, dillweed, dry milk powder, egg, feta cheese, honey, instant yeast, kosher salt, olive oil, orange zest, sesame seeds

This is a great dough to work with and the fillings are really limitless. Mount Pelion, which took its name from the mythical king Peleus, father of Achilles, is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in Greece. The local cuisine specializes in charcuterie, and a hearty stew called, spentzofáï. These little breads resemble a Mount, and would be a perfect accompaniment to either the charcuterie or a stew.

butter, dry powdered milk, egg, instant yeast, kosher salt, sugar, water, white flour

It seems that everyone is baking bread these pandemic days.  Particularly sour dough, which The Goddess wandered into, when yeast was not so readily available.  But, she’s returned to her roots…the bread you eat everyday!  A good, basic loaf…. Continue reading →

I’ve had Banh Mi on my mind recently.  At this point, venturing out for a Banh Mi, is foolishly indulgent, no matter how good it is.  And these are good!  Solution?  Make some for the The Latin Lover and me.  To that end, a meatloaf seemed like the place to start.  This is that meatloaf.  Continue reading →

These just positively fly together…like about 5 minutes.  It takes longer to dice up the strawberries than it does to actually make the recipe.  Oh, so delicious…and easy, too!  Continue reading →

Small meatballs are a great tapa.  This is a really nice blend to form into patties for breakfast sausages, either with or without the mustard-cream sauce…though, you know…it’s all about the sauce!  Or it should be.  Continue reading →

Breakfast Reuben SandwichThis was a revelation for The Goddess.  Who would have thought this would be such a winning combination?  I’ve been reveling in leftover Oma’s Sauerkraut with Apple, Onion and Bacon and have I been enjoying it.  In that posting, I think I mentioned sautéed sauerkraut with fried eggs over the top for breakfast.  This is just a waltz one step further down that road!  Continue reading →

Parsnip PancakesParsnips are one of the things I always look forward to when autumn rolls around.  Beef Barley Soup just isn’t as good without a parsnip.  Neither is a good beef stew.  I know it’s spring and it’s the end of the parsnip season, but think of these little discs of goodness as the last parsnip hurrah!  Continue reading →
