When I made this there was a hurricane brewing out there in the Atlantic. And it hit North Carolina. It hit hard near the coast. Sadly, there are far too many people who suffered terrible loss at the hands of Mother Nature and will continue to deal with the devastation left in the wake of Flo. We were very fortunate that Flo changed her mind and lost some steam by the time she arrived inland. But, life goes on and you have to keep up your strength to brave the elements and repair the damage done. Continue reading
Salisbury Steak is just a lovely way of saying that we’re looking at a thick hamburger “steak” with gravy. And I’m all over that. I hate those thick burgers, that in order to eat them you have to unhinge your jaw, like a python. I always eat those types of burgers with a knife and fork anyway, so why not add some terrific gravy?
This is a perfect and perfectly delicious vegetarian entrée. Of course, you can stuff zucchini, but if you can get your hands on some patty pan squash, grab ’em up. They’re just so much more fun. These reheat well, so they can be prepared when you have time and then you can simply reheat for a nice mid-week meal.
This is a wonderful dish. The onions are just slightly charred, a tad burned, if you will. Turbot is a wonderful fish. It’s just slightly meaty and a bit on the sweet side. It lends itself well to sauces, and this lemongrass-laced sauce is perfect with it.
This came together in no time at all. I was hungry for pizza. Really, more the flavor of pizza. Does that happen to you? Do you get hungry for certain flavors, too? Anyway, that what this was born of…the hunger for a flavor!
The Goddess was thinking about pizza for dinner or maybe a burger, but it was raining most convincingly. We’re talking monsoon, get-out-the-hip-waders! This was ark-building-type of downpour!…and this is the dry season in Florida…thank Goddess there’s no global warming…or the weather might be totally crazy! But, I digress.
Risotto is so good. It’s a one-pot meal, The Spicy Honey likes it and well, it seemed like just the thing for dinner tonight. At the store, the shrimp looked great, so the plan came together. Don’t you just love when that happens?
These probably aren’t what you think of when you think of enchiladas. And that’s okay. Though these aren’t very traditional, they are truly delicious. They are also a great way to use up your leftover Thanksgiving turkey…timely, huh?
Every now and again, we have a vegetarian at our holiday table. There are always plenty of side dishes that will work for them, but I think vegetarians should be able to experience a filling and delicious main course. Just to be clear, non-vegetarians gobble this up, too! Yeah, I went for the Thanksgiving pun…get over it!
This was the answer to The Latin Lover’s inquiry, “What are you planning for dinner?” This sort of just popped into my head. It went together quickly and had great flavor.
