Banana Bread is delicious, but it’s particularly delicious with toasted nuts and chocolate. This one’s boozed up, even though I may have this for breakfast. Toasted with butter….MMMMM! Continue reading
Flan is one of those desserts that almost everyone loves. From a hostess’s standpoint, flan is a terrific dessert, as it really needs to be done in advance. It’s also a terrific dessert, because it’s simply delicious and deliciously simple.
‘Tis the time of year, and as you know, The Goddess loves her cranberry sauce. She loves homemade cranberry sauce. She loves the stuff in the cans, too. She’s been pining for cranberry sauce for months, so she began by making a double batch. Hey, cranberries are only around for a short time, but cranberry sauce can be forever! Well, almost….
I always like to have a few jars of Hot Pepper Jelly on hand, particularly during the holiday season. Hot Pepper Jelly is always an appreciated hostess gift. It’s so versatile. I love to have a bit on a cheese tray, perfect with a leg of lamb, or on a grilled cheese sandwich. It’s a really nice glaze for chicken or pork, too. The summer always brings out my “canning and preserving” gene. I got this gene from both sides of my family and I’m so glad I did. The summer bounty offers up countless pickling opportunities. Pickled Bing Cherries are one of the best.
Rum Pot is such a nice gift to give yourself for Christmas. It’s an even better gift to give to your holiday guests. The fruit is wonderful served with ice cream, over pound cake or bread pudding or in a bowl with a spoon…just as long as you’re not driving! Then there’s the liqueur. But, you need to start a Rum Pot in the summer.
I just made this for dinner tonight. The Spicy Honey loves tomato soup, but he usually prefers the kind in the can. However, he does enjoy this one. This is an incredibly simple and delicious soup. With summer on the horizon, this seems to work, even when the heat creeps into our bones.
