The folks over at Leite’s Culinaria posted this terrific sounding Banana Bread with Nutella. Yes. Nutella. And I had a jar of Nutella in the cupboard, and several very ripe bananas just waiting for such a recipe. But…and you knew there would be a “but”, didn’t you? Because The Goddess can never, ever just leave a recipe alone. This time, I think you’ll be very happy that she didn’t! Continue reading
Depression Chocolate Cake reaches back to a time when, with very little, people made some pretty delicious things…necessity being the Mother of Invention and all. This is one of those delicious things.
I’ve had Banh Mi on my mind recently. At this point, venturing out for a Banh Mi, is foolishly indulgent, no matter how good it is. And these are good! Solution? Make some for the The Latin Lover and me. To that end, a meatloaf seemed like the place to start. This is that meatloaf.
This little gem of a cake is perfect for breakfast or an afternoon tea (or coffee). It’s moist, actually gets better as it sits, (though it is damn fine the first day, too!), isn’t too sweet, keeps well and is more or less, a one-bowl cake. It is just plain lovely!

The Goddess loves this time of year, when the frost is on the pumpkin, the leaves are a riot of color and there’s just a slight chill in the air. It’s soup weather. It’s stew and chili weather. And it’s time to make pumpkin bread!
Banana Bread is delicious, but it’s particularly delicious with toasted nuts and chocolate. This one’s boozed up, even though I may have this for breakfast. Toasted with butter….MMMMM!
This is a light, but moist cake, with a nice pure flavor and a great texture. It doesn’t have an over-pronounced banana flavor. It’s subtle. And it’s tropical, with bananas, coconut and rum.
