Lemon-Vanilla Vinaigrette with Champagne VinegarI know you’re groaning about now…oh, no!  More citrus…at least this time it’s lemon.  And this is using my favorite, Meyer lemons.  The vanilla is surprisingly good in a vinaigrette.  We don’t use vanilla enough in savory things.  This will change all that!  Continue reading →

Scallion-Ginger SauceThis stuff is unbelievably delicious.  Spoon-over-the-sink kind of delicious.  The simplicity of the mixture just doesn’t jive with the amount of flavor you experience.  It’s a perfect foil for steak, grilled chicken or pork or salmon.  Or an Asian-inspired Sloppy Joe!  You have to make this sauce.  Continue reading →

Deep-Fried Potato "Peelings" These are not potato skins.  Not the way we know them.  These are potato peelings, but they deep-fry up to a nicely crisp, slightly chewy chip.  And what makes them so exceptional, is that they’re fried in olive oil!  And they’re served with Garlic Aïoli…oh, yes!  Continue reading →

Balinese Shallot and Lemongrass Matah (Sambal Matah)This condiment, Sambal Mahtah, is spectacularly delicious.  It’s spicy, sweet, a little hot and just slightly crunchy.  This came to my attention via Trader Joe’s™.  They sell some amazingly delicious products, but they discontinued their Sambal Mahtah.  Well, what’s a girl to do?  She needs to come up with her own version.  Continue reading →
