No, you didn’t misread that. This is “almost” hollandaise sauce. It looks like it. It tastes like it…so what’s the deal? Well, no butter! Yes! Now you’re asking, why, for the love of all that’s holy in the kitchen, wouldn’t you want butter in a hollandaise sauce? Let’s face it, hollandaise has to be made last minute…it really does. It doesn’t reheat well and it’s a bit on the rich side, right? This has all the really good properties of a real-deal hollandaise sauce, but without the drawbacks…and you can have more without feeling like over-stuffed! Continue reading
This is truly an old-fashioned dessert. It’s homey and comforting. It’s also delicious. It’s a basic recipe, you’ll be able to find elsewhere. This is from my mother’s recipe file, though delicious, I couldn’t resist updating it…just a bit.
Eggs are a part of our culinary life-blood. They are the perfect food. Eggs were the first food of The Progeny and they continue to be a favorite. The Spicy Honey loves a fried egg sandwich and he loves this one. It has a crispy cheese collar. What’s not to love?
Eggs, garden tomatoes, arugula and cloaked in a light mayonnaise sauce…what could be better to start off a meal? Or for lunch, with good bread? I was reminded of this bistro favorite, in an article in The New Yorker, and I’m so very glad it nudged my memory. This is a delicious way to kick off a summer meal, when the tomatoes are prime and the temperature peaks.
Eggs and bacon go together like…well, bacon and eggs! These are really the basic recipe for deviled eggs. The garnish is up to you, but we like bacon, a sprinkle of fresh snipped chives and tonight, a thin slice of a cherry tomato. The Latin Lover will be happy, as he loves deviled eggs.
Flan is one of those desserts that almost everyone loves. From a hostess’s standpoint, flan is a terrific dessert, as it really needs to be done in advance. It’s also a terrific dessert, because it’s simply delicious and deliciously simple.
These eggs are quick to prepare and delicious…just what you need when you’ve over-imbibed…or just ‘cuz they’re damn delicious. So, order another sangria! Or not…these are a great breakfast, no matter what your condition.
This is a fun little breakfast or supper dish. I got this from the folks over at
The Middle Son and The Unbound Reader are visiting for a couple of days. We went out for pizza last night and we all love leftover pizza for breakfast. So, naturally you order a large pizza. There must be leftovers, but we’ve never had it like this before.
This was supper today. This is pure comfort. It’s been a long day, I was tired and I had leftover garlic rice, a nice, plump ripe avocado, eggs and onion and these flavors are crazy good together. This is a great breakfast and dish, too. MMMmmmm….
