Since so many of us grill more over the summer, I thought I would just pass this “custom” BBQ sauce along to you. This is one of those recipes that is ever-changing. It is intended to be personalized to your flavor preferences, but no matter what, it’s just a great sauce to make ahead or at a moments notice. Continue reading

The Eldest Progeny loves General Tso’s. Make no mistake here…we all love it. But, he can be pretty passionate about it. It’s sort of a benchmark for him, when he considers the quality of a Chinese restaurant. We’ll see what he thinks about this version, which isn’t deep-fried and is a bit lighter, but loaded with flavor.
This is a wonderfully crispy, nutty crust, juxtaposed against the creaminess of the fish fillet. The flavors play off of each other, bring cohesion to the dish, but still offer up a delightful textural quality. According to The Spicy Honey, it’s a keeper recipe.
Whaaaaat? Clementines, in fried rice? There are all sorts of recipes in Asian cooking that use orange/Mandarin/tangerine. Orange chicken? Tangerine Beef (or chicken)? So why not fried rice? Oh, you noticed the bacon, too, did you?
The Goddess has never been all that enamored with chicken burgers per se. Having said that, these beauties are different. Chicken burgers tend toward the dry, but not these babies. They are jam-packed with flavor, and the Thai chili sauce and cucumbers add that sweet and extra crunch that is just ooooh! so lovely.
This is a really nice side dish for an Asian-inspired dinner. Well, for any dinner, really. I love spring onions. They are like giant scallions, but more onion-y and maybe a bit sweeter. At any rate, they’re darned delicious.
Have you tried plantain chips? They’re readily available here in South Florida, but I’ve gotten them in the Northeast, too. Anyway, you need to get yourself a bag, because they make a great “crumb” coating…really. Crush them up and add use them to coat chicken breasts, or as in this case, fish fillets. Oh yeah, they’re a great alternative to potato chips, too (and they are gluten free, as well!).

This came together in no time at all. I was hungry for pizza. Really, more the flavor of pizza. Does that happen to you? Do you get hungry for certain flavors, too? Anyway, that what this was born of…the hunger for a flavor!
The Goddess was thinking about pizza for dinner or maybe a burger, but it was raining most convincingly. We’re talking monsoon, get-out-the-hip-waders! This was ark-building-type of downpour!…and this is the dry season in Florida…thank Goddess there’s no global warming…or the weather might be totally crazy! But, I digress.
