avocado, Bread, egg, tomato

It’s difficult for The Goddess to determine which component—avocado, fried egg or tomato—is the most important, the front flavor, if you will, of this sandwich.  She thinks about these things, in the hopes that she will come up with a stellar and solidly conclusive answer for you.  Today, she’s got nothin’.  She just knows that it works. Roasted Kung Pao Chicken Thighs with Stir-Fry Vegetables and Ginger RiceYou realize that The Goddess thinks about food and food preparation all the time.  It’s sort of an obsession.  She’s not normal, I tell ya’.  She’s always pondering about the “what if’s” and the “why for’s”, the culinary road less, or not at all traveled!  Recently, Chinese food has been on her mind; she was thinking about Kung Pao Chicken.  That’s what prompted this culinary adventure.  Continue reading →

044Americans so often use ground beef or hamburger when we do burgers, but pork is a wonderful option.  You know how The Goddess likes pork.  So today she was feeling something Thai and fast.  So she fired up the grill, seasoned some ground pork and the Thai Burger was dinner! Continue reading →

060This is just yummy and a terrific weekday meal.  It’s also great for a dinner party.  It’s fast AND delicious; it can be a one-pan wonder.  It works with any fish, but I think I like it best with a white fish, as opposed to salmon.  The sauce positively sings when used with sea bass…we’re talking arias here.  Continue reading →

Zucchini is such an innocuous vegetable, but so versatile.  It can be served raw, in thin ribbons in a salad, grilled, steamed, pan-fried, deep-fried or made au gratin…with cheese!  This is easy, can be made ahead and delicious.  Continue reading →

091I mentioned a couple of things in yesterday’s Classically Good Potato Salad post—boiled dressing and Hard-boiled Eggs.  Neither of those things sound very sexy, do they?  But, these are both things you should know how to prepare well….first, boiled dressing….  Continue reading →

006Summer rolls are an absolute favorite of The Goddess and her peeps.  They are the perfect summer dinner on a scorching hot day, but really I can eat these any day, any time, any season.  The most difficult part is rolling them, and after about 2 or 3, you get the hang of it pretty quickly.  They are fast to prepare, can be made ahead, and are delicious.  The kind of thing you can whip up (or roll up) after work, in a flash.  Continue reading →

071Granola seems to be a flash back to the 60’s.  It shouldn’t be.  This is THE recipe for granola.  Seriously.  Superlatives aside.  This is so good you won’t stop eating it until your jaws get tired.  Then you’ll rest and go right back in for more!  Truly, it is without a doubt, the best granola you will ever toss over your teeth!  It’s good stirred into yogurt, it’s great sprinkled gingerly over a scoop of ice cream and fantastic eaten just as it is.    Continue reading →

The winter is almost behind us and along with it, the soup pot on the back burner will disappear in favor of quicker, greener and cooler soups.  Before we retire the soup pot and since there’s still some snow on the ground, I thought we should have one last comforting bowl of the winter elixir, that is soup.  Continue reading →
