Salmon & Tuna TartareThis is a terrific lunch or first course.  I serve it as is, or smeared on crackers or toasts.  It’s delicious, light, and has a lovely texture; sort of silky on the tongue.  If you like sushi, you’ll love this mixture.  Continue reading →

Pork with Hominy, Hatch Chiles and Tortilla StripsWe had leftover Pork with Salsa Verde, “Almost”.  You may remember Plan B?  That’s right, it’s leftovers, again!  It turns out The Latin Lover loved this more than the original, so The Goddess will go directly to leftovers.  Hmmmm, leftovers from scratch.  Now there’s a concept!  Continue reading →

Asian-Flavored Celery SaladCelery is an underrated vegetable.  We haul it out when we diet and when we have Buffalo wings (who knew buffalo could fly!) or we make soup, but otherwise it tends to languish in the crisper drawer, until you’re pulling out a bag of slime and looking for the garbage can.  This has happened to you and you know it.  No more, I tell you.  Celery is a great vegetable, not to be ignored.  It can be a star and salads are a great place to start.  Continue reading →

avocado, Bread, egg, tomato

It’s difficult for The Goddess to determine which component—avocado, fried egg or tomato—is the most important, the front flavor, if you will, of this sandwich.  She thinks about these things, in the hopes that she will come up with a stellar and solidly conclusive answer for you.  Today, she’s got nothin’.  She just knows that it works. 018It’s Saturday morning and this is the perfect weekend breakfast.  It’s basic.  It’s pure.  It’s rich.  It’s simple.  It’s incredibly delicious.  Rumor has it this is a hot “new” thing these days.  My mother would be thrilled to know that for decades, she was ahead of her time.  This is how I learned to eat an avocado.  Continue reading →

002I was flying around the Interwebs, as The Goddess tends to do too frequently for the dust bunnies gathering for an assault, when I ran across this entry on Pinch of Yum‘s blog.  I knew instantly that I was going to become intimate friends with this sauce.  It’s avocado-based, but with so much more to offer…. 275I’m a bit late getting this to you, but I posted a guacamole recipe a few months back, but today is Cinco de Mayo, which positively screams and dances guac, don’t you think?  So I thought about it a bit and decided to primp up some guac.  A photographer friend says her mother always told her, “Never leave the house without lipstick”.  Who am I to argue with mom?  This is “lipstick guac”.  Continue reading →

Easter eggs are such fun to dye.  When our sons were young, they had a great time dying eggs…it’s a good memory.  And to be honest, while we loved dying eggs, now it’s nice to just have it as a memory and not have the mess…the plastic eggs work for me!  Continue reading →
