I was reading a blog the other day, and I ran across something called Pašticada. So, what’s this about? Not being Croatian, this was new to me, but from what I was reading, this dish is a pretty big deal. For the non-Croatian palate, this may seem like an odd combination of flavors to use with beef—lemons, nutmeg, cloves, prunes and other dried fruit—all braised slowly in red wine and plum brandy. This was the answer to The Latin Lover’s inquiry, “What are you planning for dinner?” This sort of just popped into my head. It went together quickly and had great flavor. 
These eggs are quick to prepare and delicious…just what you need when you’ve over-imbibed…or just ‘cuz they’re damn delicious. So, order another sangria! Or not…these are a great breakfast, no matter what your condition.

Many time when she thinks something will work, it doesn’t work as well as it does in her mind’s-eye. But, this turned out to be incredibly, almost indecently, tasty.
This is a dish my sister Joan used to make. She’s no longer with us, but her memory lives on with me in so many ways. This dish is one of the things she made for her large family and her busy life. It was fast, tasty and economical. What more could you ask for?
I’ve been hearing and reading about butter-basting steak for some years now, but I had sort of dismissed it. That was a mistake. I decided it was time to try it. Oh, yes. I should never have dismissed it. It was, note the past tense, incredibly rich and delicious.
