And in case you missed it the first time…because this is spectacularly good with Corned Beef with Beer Gravy and it’s that time of year. When The Progeny are around the table, I have to make huge quantities, because it truly is…all…about…this…sauce! Continue reading

Are we tired of Ranch Dressing yet? Come on…you know we all love it. Don’t we? I’ve made Ranch for years, many times using the dry packet and embellishing it with more dill. The Goddess loves her dill. So why not make it from scratch? This is where we’ve ended up…for the moment, anyway. It’s terrific drizzled over a nice piece of salmon, on a baked potato, a shingle or on slices of garden tomatoes.
If you’ve ever eaten in an Indian restaurant, then you’ve had this. The Goddess has been known to have a bowl of this. You think she’s kidding? She is not. This stuff is addictive, because it’s just, plain delicious.
Apple butter is autumn in a jar. I love it spread on toast, or along side slices of pork. It’s comforting and just plain, delicious. But, it can be quite a bit of work, and you know The Goddess is one lazy…uh, well, Goddess. So, she came up with this version and she’s happy to report, it’s delicious.
I just recently had a wonderful meal at Ariana, in Philadelphia’s Old Town. It was a frigid cold night, as one can expect in February. I didn’t have their “Aush” or “Mashawa”, which are typical Afghan soups, but I saw bowls or it going by and it smelled heavenly. Turns out, it is.
Every Cuban woman (or man, I suppose) knows how to make Picadillo. It’s quick and delicious, but it’s never as good as “mami makes”! Some things transcend cultures, don’t they? I learned how to make this from my mother-in-law and from The Latin Lover’s great-aunt, both damn fine cooks. It’s a very valuable recipe to have.
You may remember, in the past…yes, The Goddess is a deity with a past! Everyone has a past, and goddess-willing, it’s interesting and rich with memories. Anyway, there were a couple of posts for
I had some mini-pepperoni that just seemed like they would be a nice addition to some lean ground beef…I was thinking maybe a taco-like thing, but The Latin Lover said, “We haven’t had meatloaf in a while. I love meatloaf”…well, what more could a Goddess want to hear?
Every now and then The Goddess runs across some tidbit of info that she is just awed by…this is one of those bits. Now, you may know all about removing fat from meatloaf using a jar! Yup, a hot pan, and a jar does the trick.
