Summer SangriaSangria is a great summer drink.  For some reason, women seem to enjoy it more than men.  The Latin Lover isn’t a fan.  The Goddess is.  This is a fruity, not-too-sweet, white wine version.  It is the perfect summer drink.  It’s time to bring out the pitcher and the glasses.  Continue reading →

Spiced, Braised Pork Shoulder with Roasted PineappleThe Spicy Honey took me to Doce Provisions for my birthday.  It’s a nice little place, with an interesting and delicious menu.  Their “Lechon Asado Buns”, which they serve on bao, were heaven.  They were the inspiration for this, except I put the meat and pineapple on an arepa.  Continue reading →

Plantain Chip-Crusted Fish Fillets with Curry SauceHave you tried plantain chips?  They’re readily available here in South Florida, but I’ve gotten them in the Northeast, too.  Anyway, you need to get yourself a bag, because they make a great “crumb” coating…really.  Crush them up and add use them to coat chicken breasts, or as in this case, fish fillets.  Oh yeah, they’re a great alternative to potato chips, too (and they are gluten free, as well!).  Continue reading →

Heavenly Stuffed PumpkinEvery now and again, we have a vegetarian at our holiday table.  There are always plenty of side dishes that will work for them, but I think vegetarians should be able to experience a filling and delicious main course.  Just to be clear, non-vegetarians gobble this up, too!  Yeah, I went for the Thanksgiving pun…get over it!   Continue reading →

Tomato-Corn ChowderI just made this for dinner tonight.  The Spicy Honey loves tomato soup, but he usually prefers the kind in the can.  However, he does enjoy this one.  This is an incredibly simple and delicious soup.  With summer on the horizon, this seems to work, even when the heat creeps into our bones.  Continue reading →
