Hard Cider-Braised Pork Shoulder with Herbs & 40 Cloves of GarlicWOW!  That’s a real mouthful, isn’t it (pun intended!)?  Probably my favorite way of preparing pork shoulder or chuck roasts is braising.  It’s the ever-present aroma wafting through the kitchen, as a harbinger of good things to come.  This versions combines a few of The Goddess’s favorite things—garlic, rosemary, and hard cider.   Continue reading →

Pizza…mmmmm!  Is there anyone who doesn’t love, or at least like pizza?  And what’s better than leftover pizza for breakfast?  You know you love leftover pizza.  You can deny it, but The Goddess knows the truth! Continue reading →

Coconut CrunchThe Spicy Honey has an office BBQ and thought it would be a good idea for The Goddess to “whip up” dessert.  He’s thoughtful that way.  But, The Goddess doesn’t mind, because dessert is good, and this is particularly good.  It’s rich, creamy and just delicious, so isn’t that just the perfect thing to have at a BBQ?  Continue reading →

Creamy Caesar Dressing with South-of-the-Border FlavorsThere is a plethora of origin stories for Caesar salad.  The most common is probably the one that suggests it originated in Mexico, in the early 1920’s, made by the Cardini brothers.  Mexico…Caesar salad…’Why not try using a more Mexican flavor profile?’, The Goddess wondered…it turns out it was a pretty tasty thought to have! Mocha-Bourbon Chewy, Fudgy BrowniesI’m a chewy, fudgy brownie-type of woman.  Cake brownies are well, just cake, really.  Brownies should be dense and moist and rich.  These brownies are all that, but they have the added bonus of coffee and bourbon.  We’ll say these are “adult” brownies…I think they’re better the next day, but they’re damn fine, just out of the oven and cooled for maybe 15 minutes, too…damn fine! Salisbury Steak with Mushroom, Onion and Caper SauceSalisbury Steak is just a lovely way of saying that we’re looking at a thick hamburger “steak” with gravy.  And I’m all over that.  I hate those thick burgers, that in order to eat them you have to unhinge your jaw, like a python.  I always eat those types of burgers with a knife and fork anyway, so why not add some terrific gravy?  Continue reading →

Sea Legs & Sweet Pea Salad with Lemon-Yogurt DressingThis is a summer salad if there ever was one.  It’s perfect when the temperature soars, as it’s been doing here in the Carolinas, so this seems like the perfect dinner, giving me a delicious, quick, cold meal loaded with flavor, giving me just that little extra time I need to unpack more boxes…Yippee!!!  Continue reading →

Goddess of the Sea CakesI really do so enjoy imitation crab meat.  I know it’s not crab meat.  I just like it.  It’s never fishy when it’s heated.  It has a nice consistency, it’s easy to work with and it just tastes so good.  And it was really good in these patties.  Continue reading →
