This is an extraordinary pot roast. I was thinking about our trip to Portugal and remembering some of the fabulous meals we enjoyed, hence the Port, the oranges and the cherries. This seemed like just the thing to use for our Zoom dinner with friends to celebrate getting the vaccine. Everything is relative and one has to find joy in the little things. Continue reading
I love lamb. I have always felt that the reason others don’t enjoy it, is because they’ve had over-cooked lamb. Gray-colored meat is all that appetizing to anyone. Admittedly, lamb has a distinct flavor and can be a tad gamey…maybe that’s why I like it so much!
I haven’t cooked a veal breast in years. The last one I made was stuffed and it was good, but…. Well, let’s put it this way, it didn’t make my taste buds do cartwheels. This one, which is based on Jacques Pépin’s recipe, does!
The Spicy Honey loves Jamaican patties. They’re spicy (like him!) and just a quick, full-flavored bite, that’s perfect for lunch or a snack or dinner or breakfast. In other words, good any time, any place.
I’ve been meaning to make pide (in case you’re wondering, it’s pronounced “PEE-day”) for quite some time. This is street food, at its very best. And this dough? It is positively fabulous and wonderful to work with. I’ve given you a couple of filling options, and then some!
This is a marriage made in heaven! Inspiration is a funny thing…it can come out of nowhere. It can be overheard. It can sneak up on you. Or is can simply be the unfolding of something unexplained…that’s sort what happened here.
I think I’ve mentioned a couple of times (or twenty), that The Goddess has a fondness for eggplant. The season is in full swing now, so you might imagine that eggplant is finding it’s way into, onto, around, under, etc. her table. She’s been hasselbacking things recently, and why should eggplant escape her vision?
Floating Islands? Seriously…what has happened to The Goddess? Has she been into the Rosé to excess? Or was she out in the sun too long? Everyone knows that “floating islands” is a dessert. Yes. That’s true. Normally, it is. But, as you know there’s nothing normal about The Goddess!
I’ve had Banh Mi on my mind recently. At this point, venturing out for a Banh Mi, is foolishly indulgent, no matter how good it is. And these are good! Solution? Make some for the The Latin Lover and me. To that end, a meatloaf seemed like the place to start. This is that meatloaf.
Sloppy Joe’s are one of those wonderful memories we have from childhood. I love them. I still do. I like mine on potato rolls, with slices of raw onion, dill pickle slices and potato chips on the side. MMM…what a wonderful memory!
