This is a nice little loaf to have in your fridge. It makes a nice sandwich, a lovely addition to a charcuterie with some cornichons or for a light lunch or supper with some good mustard.
Mélange, is defined as “a mixture, a medley”. It’s the perfect description of this “medley”—as this combines, shrimp, scallops, calamari rings, and imitation crabmeat, for the seafood. And the mélange of vegetables—red onion, olives, bell pepper, and recao or culantro. It’s sublime. It’s perfection…a mélange of flavors.

I was going to call this Autumn Hummus, but really, what does that tell you? Nada! The pumpkin and roasted peppers are there, but they are subtle. Not front flavors at all. And it’s very festive-looking.
Every now and again, we have a vegetarian at our holiday table. There are always plenty of side dishes that will work for them, but I think vegetarians should be able to experience a filling and delicious main course. Every now and again, you happen on a dish that’s just perfect. This is that dish. It’s a positively delicious dish. It’s loaded with rich flavors and vivid colors. Though it’s absolutely best made when the garden is overflowing, it transcends seasons. And perhaps best of all, it goes together quickly and is even better made ahead and eaten at room temperature.
