Lime-Garlic AïoliThis is a nice alternative to tartar sauce.  It’s wonderful served on the side of a grilled salmon filet….mmmmm!  I usually serve this with Calamari Frita or Fried Calamari Rings.  It is also excellent as a marinade for chicken.  Continue reading →

Thai-Pineapple Chile SauceThis is a nice little sauce to have on hand.  It’s positively delicious with fish of any kind, but it’s decent with chicken fingers, Fried Calamari or drizzled over pork.  You can vary the fruit, but I love this combination.  Continue reading →

Calamari Frita (Fried Calamari) with Dipping SaucesIf there’s calamari on the menu, The Goddess will be ordering some.  Calamari, when well prepared, is a feast to behold.  Crispy on the outside, a slight sweetness and meltingly tender on the inside.  Delicious. Continue reading →

Sushi Bowl (or Deconstructed Sushi)I was thinking about making sushi, but just didn’t get myself organized enough to manage that.  This is sushi, but “unrolled” or deconstructed—layers of flavor.  This is fork food.  Chopsticks won’t work too well here, but the flavors are deliciously sushi.  Continue reading →

Prairie Chili with BeansThe weather outside is frightful!  Chili is just this thing to take a bite out of the cold.  I know we’ve explored Chili with all the Good Stuff! in the past.  Though similar, this version is much closer to the chili my mother made, out there on the Prairie.  I make us sound like the Wilder’s from “Little House on the Prairie”, don’t I?  However, I don’t recall that they made chili!  Continue reading →

Hummus with Pumpkin and Roasted PepperI was going to call this Autumn Hummus, but really, what does that tell you?  Nada!  The pumpkin and roasted peppers are there, but they are subtle.  Not front flavors at all.  And it’s very festive-looking.  Continue reading →

Paprika-Caraway Cheese SpreadI won’t even pretend this is a Liptauer-like cheese spread.  Because, it isn’t that.  I think we can assume its roots live there, but it matters not.  It’s truly delightful schmeared on a bagel.  Continue reading →
