We visited Han Restaurant again. Those Hot Pots are addictive, I tell ya’. Well, we had some of the broth leftover and you know how The Goddess loves her leftovers. We decided to “re-purpose” it a bit, so we made a fish stew.
I probably shouldn’t be calling this Sicilian Eggplant, since I’m not only not Sicilian, hell, I’m not even Italian. This may seem like it has non-Italian flavors, but we need to remember that the Moors “visited” Sicily for quite a number of years. Therefore, this has many of the flavors they left behind, after they moved on. You know, things like raisins, pistachios and cumin. It matters not what those flavors are, it’s still darned delicious.
This tapenade is salty, slightly bitter, slightly sweet and completely delicious. It works with meat, poultry, and fish. It can be stirred into sauces. Or smeared on a grilled cheese. Yes, it’s a flexible little minx, this one.
I just made this for dinner tonight. The Spicy Honey loves tomato soup, but he usually prefers the kind in the can. However, he does enjoy this one. This is an incredibly simple and delicious soup. With summer on the horizon, this seems to work, even when the heat creeps into our bones.
When you put out a bowl of good olives, they always seems to disappear quickly, don’t they? When I put these little orbs of tastiness out to nibble, with drinks, before dinner, they fly out of the bowl! If you’re lucky enough to have some left, they are mighty delicious strewn over a salad.
