This is a great little salad. It’s pretty, it holds up well and it’s delicious. Mandarins have just come into the market and they are wonderful. I find, you can eat the entire being, peel and all. And they’re gorgeous and just scream autumn. Continue reading
Back in the day when “cracker” was something you ate with soup or put cheese or peanut butter on, my mother used to make this salad. I had completely forgotten about it. Of course, there was no recipe that she left behind. I was dicing a tomato and some scallions, and the memory of it came flooding back. Thank goodness for food memories.

Lamb makes a wonderful sauce to splash over pasta, or better yet, cheese-filled tortellini. This version of ragú is wonderfully complex, with a deliciously interesting combination of herbs and spices. This is company fare.
Caponata is incredibly delicious. It is the perfect end-of-the-summer-garden dish to prepare. This version “twisted” or “evolved”, as I was searching through the garden. Only it’s roots are traditional. Then it wanders. And it wanders into pretty, delicious territory.
As you know, The Goddess does vegetables, but not really into the vegetarian thing. She loves her burgers, chicken and pork! But, sometimes a person needs to get outside their little world and wander a bit. This is what happens when she wanders off the beaten path….
